Part skinner part camp knife.
-7 inch blade of 1084 with an antique etched finish.
-11 3/4 inch tip to butt.
-Brushed and heat colored copper spacer and textured mild steel guard.
-Elk antler handle.

Blade is 1/4 inch thick with minimal distal taper to keep a bit more weight out front. For a relatively short blade it chops pretty well, but still thin enough at the edge for most slicing chores. I added a bit of a false edge at the tip to make it more effective for piercing.

The little button is actually a "T" shaped  nut.......threaded directly onto the end of the tang. It had a slotted extension on it so I could tighten it during final assembly, then I ground off the extension and textured it to match the guard.

I really like your style.  You always manage to incorporate multiple antique or rustic style elements into your knives and still have it come out very elegant and classy.  When I try to do that mine just look old.  Looks like a great functional design as well.  It'd be at home cleaning a deer, splitting kindling, cutting up veggies in camp, or even carving a Thanksgiving turkey.  A really nice alternative to the classic bowie style.

Thanks, you probably have the stuff to do that finish in your house already(I am assuming you are referring to the blade finish). You use cold blue(as your little slippy would indicate) so the only other thing needed is common bleach.
Here's my method.
Sand the blade.....I only take it to 220 or 280 grit.
-Cold blue the blade.
-Immerse the blade in bleach.
-Usually I will take the blade out of the bleach after 10 minutes and lightly sand with 1500grit, and then back in the bleach. The blade will look awful, rust goobers everywhere, just repeat the bleach etch, 1500 grit sandpaper cycle until you are happy with the finish.

Thanks, I consider this one a hard use, working grade knife, I just think working grade should look cool too. It cut really well during testing.
