Here are two kwaikens I just finished up for a knife show that is coming up this weekend in Eugene Oregon. These are both 1095 and have polished hamons. The larger one has OD green rayskin and a carved copper menuki (a feather) that I made as well. The smaller one has burgundy rayskin and a hammered copper menuki. The larger one has a 4.5" blade and the smaller one has a 3.5" blade. I carry one like the 3.5" version as my edc everyday, it carries very nicely in an inverted kydex sheath.
Let me know what you guys think.

I think I want one!
Is the cord wrap soaked in some sort of epoxy or hardener?
Can't tell for sure from the pics, but I assume these are ground on both sides, not chisel ground?

Thanks Darcy. They are full flat ground and then convexed into a very thin cutting edge. The handle is soaked in Minwax wood hardener, So it is very durable and yet still has a natural feel.

Beautiful knives, very simple elegant design!  Thanks for sharing.

Very nice, Ben.
Got a picture with the sheaths?

How about a handle wrap tutorial?
It's your turn.

I'll see what I can pull together for a tutorial Karl.

Ben, just do it on the next one and take step-by-step photos as you go.
We'll wait - patiently.

Can't even tell the minwax wood hardener is on there.......cool! When I did wrapped handles in the past I used epoxy and rubbed it into the cord, but it never turned out looking that natural.
Again nice work.
