Here is a short, stout Bowie that really is turning out nice. At least, it is in my mind   :)  .

The blade pattern was sent to me and several other makers, just the blade. We each are to make what we want to after that. It will be up to us to design the guard and handle to the blade. I think this is an interesting starting point for a collector to propose. The blade is 1095 and is 6 3/4 inch long. I'm sure all of the makers will finish their blades within a fraction of each other, but who knows what the rest of the knives will be like?

I think the blade is looking really good, Lin. A 1095 blade is going to be excellent with your heat treatment and the design of that blade. I have a feeling the guard and handle you put on it are going to impress all of us, as normally happens when you are making a knife.

I too really like the shape and length of this one. I can hardly wait to see the progress of this knife.

Now THAT'S what I call a useful Bowie knife. Much as I like the looks and proportions of those big ones, I wonder how many of them really get used. You could build a lean-to or field dress a whitetail without a whole lot of blade getting in the way.

Being a rich man would be nice. I could use that one too   :)

lin
very nice !
is the clip sharp?
looks to me like ya clay coated the blade also
i believe i see a Homon in there

Thanks. The clip is not sharp except right on the end. This blade is 1095 and is clay coat quenched. It shows easy in the right light.

That's a winner there, and I love those hand peined pins.  The handle profile is simple yet elegant, particularly the last 1/2" or so.

Man o man Lin, I like that Bowie better than any I have seen recently! Beautiful knife!

Wow this is a great looking knife with really useful proportions/dimension. I to wish I had some disposable incomes to own some thing like that!!

That is a great conclusion to another knife project. It was nice visiting with you this evening, Lin. Hope I can make it to the show on Saturday.

That'll do Lin, great knife

Wow!!!  Now that's a knife!  One of my favorites too.  Mr. Lin, do you mind me asking what your handle material is?

Thanks.   :campfire:

The wood is Desert Ironwood burl. I forged the guard, which is 416 stainless.

A real beauty, Lin.
Is this one and maybe more going to be in Little Rock?

It will be there Karl. I dont have very many complete knives this year but I might bring some blades for folks to see.

When I win the lottery I am going to have Lin build me one exactly like that.  Just beautiful!

What I meant was more of that same blade by the other makers?

Yes, Karl. Sorry. There will be at least one more by Brion Tomberlin. Wanna see it?
