Hi Guys and Gals.
I've been lurking around here for a while, and figgured I had better introduce myself. My name is Darcy Ellis, I have been a traditional archer since I was about 15 and a bladesmith since I was about 18(I am almost 35 now). I have a fine wife of 17 years and 2 boys ages 6 and 13. I also build selfbows and do some gunsmithing work.
In the realm of knives, I like all kinds but am especially fond of bowies, which I carry and use in the bush while hunting or working. I find I can do pretty much anything with a big blade(properly designed) that I can with a small one, but certainly not the other way around(try chopping down a tree with a 3 inch hunter  ;)  ). I also build the occasional slip joint folder, which fills my need for a small blade in more urban settings and for very fine work, like caping or splinter removal.
Here are a few pics of my work, sorry for the poor photography. I should mention that I very rarely sell a blade, and am basically just a hobby smith.
My son's 13th birthday present from me. 9 1/2" blade of 5160, elk antler handle, mild steel and nickle silver fittings.

10 1/2 inch bowie. Mule deer crown, 5160 antiqued blade, copper and mild steel.

My first damascus blade.......no power hammer. 11 layers of 1084 and 15n20, 9 1/2" long, elk antler, mild steel and copper. Pictured with a 15 inch plus wild rainbow on the way to the grill. Yes I did clean the trout with this knife.

slip joint folder, 4 inches closed, O-1 blade etched finish, nickle silver bolsters and liners, mammoth ivory. I carry this knife when I go to town or anywhere that the big blades aren't needed.

Thanks for looking,
Darcy  :)

Welcome and thank you for sharing your work.  Great to have a new tallent here - helps a hack like me spread all my questions around and not be a bother to one or two individuals all the time.

Really like your style.

Trout fishing is anothe obsession of mine although I have never used a bowie to disasemble one!
