Hey guys, i wanted to share, ie: show off,  my first attempt at forging a knife blade.  Some of you have probably seen it on the Bama Twist thread for the St Judes Auction.   The picture shows the blade as far as i could take it during the time i had.  The remainder of the work will be completed by Team Twister.

Skyler and I worked on it together  with awesome guidance from Robtatto and DW (Don Wilson).  I cant seem to stop thinking about forging another, and another, and another.  I have always wanted to forge my own blades but haven't had the time recently.

Its a little rough around the edges but i am darn proud of Skyler and I on this blade.

I have a funny feeling i will follow up this thread with many questions on forging equipment and techniques in the future.

Thanks for looking.  Jack

Saw it over on the auction along with all the other pics.  Great job and Doug certainly has it right-gets in your blood  :) .  I'm pretty new to this but built my propane forge and a few other things to get started.  There are a lot of good resources as far as forges, equipment, etc., but please feel free to pm me if you want to.  I'm pretty sure I still have some pics of how I built my burners, and the finished forge.  Welcome to a new addiction.

You not kidding guys.  All i have been doing in my spare time is surfing the internet on knife stuff and formulating a list of things i "need".    Well, thats what i tell the wife.  I "neeeeed" all this stuff.

I am in the Northeast AL region and am myself learning this wonderful trade. I am having to teach myself and so far its a slow process but one I am enjoying. I am very impressed with your "first" I have yet to produce a usable knife.

Roughcountry

Sure looks good for your first, or even if it was #6.
Looking forward to seeing many more.
