How to put handles on

Ok, I'm new to this knife building thing. I got some blades that need handles put on. They are the pin method (I guess) I know they need pins. How does a guy do this and what tools do I need. Is there a build a long somewhere.

Carefully, yes there are tools and yes there are threads.

I find that a drill press is invaluable for getting true holes where the pin is a tight fit.  I like to glue one scale on and drill it, then glue the other scale on and drill thru it using the first hole as a guide.  Others like to mark both scales and drill them then glue them on at the same time.  Lots of options.

When I drill the scales I try to drill toward the inside of the scale (the part that will be next to the tang). This way if there is chip out it will be hidden and you won't have to reduce the thickness of your scales to clean it up.

One other trick is after you drill your holes use either the pins you will epoxy in or a small nut and bolt to hold the scales together.  Then finish the front of the scales all the way to your final sanding.  It will be much easier to get them done before you epoxy them on the knife.  And by using the holes as a reference you know they will be even when attached.
