I wanted to show off this knife I just finished, I am very pleased with it. The handle is black walnut (no liners this time) and has sterling silver wire inlay. The handle has a hand rubbed oil finish.
The gentleman I made this for, is going to commission someone that specializes in period correct sheaths, using brain tanned deer skin and adorned with quillwork and fringe, and it will be attached to his back quiver.
Thanks, Dan

Wow, Dan. That's nice buddy.

Very nice Dan,the inlay pattern reminds me of some of the pinstriping that I have seen on some custom hot rods.

WOW - that is really nice.  I like it a lot.  How about a build along tutoral on the inlays???  I have a bunch of sterling wire but have no clue how you do that?

I really like it though -

Thank you very much for the kind words.
I believe it was Keesler that did a tutorial on wire inlay in a Blade magazine a few years ago.  I am sure a search will come up with tutorials and videos.  Honestly, I don't have time for a tutorial right now.
Basically, you cut a groove using chisel tipped tools you make from x-acto knives.  Insert the wire, and I tap with the wood butt of the tool, steam the grain closed.  File flat, then hand sand.

Dan that issue of Joe Keeslar did the wire inlay was Jan. 2009.
Its also in the Handles and Guards Book,by Joe Kesslar

I have to refer to it often.

Thanks for that information Kevin.
This is something that anyone can learn to do with inexpensive home made tools and a little time.
