Cheater knife question

I picked up an old butchers knife at the local antique/junk shop and want to make a couple of blades out of it. What is the best way to grind some blades without affecting the temper of the steel. I have a dremel, files, hacksaw, angle grinder and a 1" harbor freight beltsander.

My first thought was to use the dremell to cut to shape, while keeping the worked area wet to keep temp down. If this will work what is a good way to keep thewater flowing without making an unholy mess.

Any input will be appreciated.

just take your time don't push your grinding as soon as one is getting a little warm lay it down and work on the other, you might also want to do as much as you can by hand power.

You can just dip it in water usually and that will keep it cool enough. It should never get so hot that it is uncomfortable to hold in your bare hand.
