Just trying to get a few knives finished up for the GSMBS at Haywood College.  Since Joe Keeslar will be demonstrating/teaching the forging portion, I want to have a couple of his style knives for critique.

This caper is almost identical to the sheep horn caper except the finger flare is larger/more open.  These two were made for Robin Severe (Roughcountry).  Seems I won a ST Judes Severe knife sheath two years ago...well I'm not always this late in getting things finished up   :knothead:    Anyway I'll be sending both to Robin after the blade symposium.  One for him & one for me...his choice that is if he still remembers   :)    Doc

That is pretty Doc but not as nice as the sheephorn caper.

The interesting thing is both knives look very similar but feel very different in your hand due to the radius difference of the finger guard.  So rather than look at them and like a particular handle, you need to close your eyes when picking them up to decide which one you like.

I guess that's why I put a lot of paracord handles on knives...to determine if the design feels right.  Doc

Very nice Doc!  Wish I could attend.

I can't seem to get a good wide flair when I try.

I guess I like the sheepshorn handled knife a little better, but I would love to have either one of those beauties!

Hey Tippit, if everyone likes the sheephorn handle better, maybe you should just send that one to me, and make another sheephorn. Anything I can do to help!

I like that knife a lot.  curly maple is one of my favorite woods. Good luck with Mr. Keesler.

Really like these capers, I'd take either one. What size stock did you start with?
