Somehow, calling this a "Brut de Forge - (rough and unfinished)" just doesn't seem to fit, but I don't know what else to call it.
It is roughly forged and not completely finished, sort of. Sure was a lot of work to not be finished!
Selectively ground and then hot blued 324 layer Damascus.
I really got some nice chatoyance from 'Sweet Pea' - my 50# LG - and hope that bottom closeup shows it a little bit. It really dances.
As well, the spine, from the clip all the way around to the forged guard, has been polished.
I've had these pieces of Red Stag for a loooooooooooooooong time and finally found a use for them!
Nickel silver pins help hold the scales on.

When the last buffalo falls on the plains,
I will hunt mice for I am a hunter and I must have my freedom.

Very nice Karl!  I like the way you under cut the stag scales showing alittle of the tang, it looks nice! Did you do that to allow for movement of the material do to seasonal humidity change, or just asthetics?  Or both?

Aesthetics.
I wanted a black "picture frame" around the scales.

You're making me like damascus again Karl.  It usually isn't my favorite....but that dark stuff you have....   That hot bluing really does damascus justice...
