"Twisted" Every Day Hunter

Nice little item for the 'Sharp Dressed Man'!
400 layer 1084/15N20 with a slow twist.
Backed up with hot-blued mild steel take-down fittings.
Now, the handle is a different story. I had a knife making acquaintance stop by the shop 4 or 5 years ago and drop off some things in trade. One of them was a stabilized chunk of "???" burl. It has resided in my handle cabinet until now. It has some truly interesting character.
The twist blade, like most of my Damascus, is taken to about a 1/2 way done stage and then brutalized with my power hammer to invoke spooky chatoyance in the pattern. More visible in person, but really shimmers.

i love it. the tone of the grayish/silver in the blade with that rich, dark burl just go. Did you stain that wood?

Not to get off the subject, and maybe I'm a day late and a dollar short, but I was watching a show on the History or Discovery channel this weekend called something like Extreme Accuracy, or something like that.  It was people like Byron Ferguson and the like making trick shots.  They got to talking about throwing knife accuracy and had a guy on there that was a really awesome with a knife.  Anyway, unless I'm mistaken I saw a knife on there that had your initials/stamp on the blade.  Was that your knife?  Just wondering.  If I remember right it was a bowie of sorts and maybe a damascus blade.

I'll try and find out exactly what the show was.  I may have been mistaken but I thought I saw the "JS" I've seen in some of the knife photos you've posted stamped on the knife.

That JS is the American Bladesmith Socities - Journeyman Stamp. A designation earned and awarded to only the best and you will see it on a few of our talented knifemakers knives. Karl, Lin,Matt and soon to be Doug. Lin is close to his Mastersmith Achievment I do believe. Hope I have not missed anyone. Check out the American Bladesmith Society's website for all details and process of these achievments. I'm just a big fan, and we are very lucky to have these craftsmen in our ranks. All that said this is not to detract from the others that are truly great craftsmen that have not gone that route. As with any association/guild etc there are always artists that choose not to go that route for whatever reason.

ALW - the "JS" stands for "Journeyman Smith" and is used by nearly everyone who earns that title through the ABS.
