With Pig Gig just around the corner, I've started collecting my Texas hunting gear. Even though my forge isn't up & running yet, I still have a few unfinished blades.  So of course I NEEDED a new hunting knife to break in  :)

This years Pig Gig Special...5160 steel, 8 1/2" AOL, 10" wheel hollow ground, curly maple handle stained with Fiebing's dark brown leather dye & finished with Tru-Oil.  Hope to add a little red color to the maple  ;)   Doc

Jeff, that is just sweet, buddy!
That would look great with a little "pig" dye on it.
When the last deer disappears into the morning mist,
When the last elk vanishes from the hills,
When the last buffalo falls on the plains,
I will hunt mice for I am a hunter and I must have my freedom.

Awesome as always Doc! You must be going crazy without your forge and no way to work off you frustrations for so long  ;)  I hate it that I'm going to miss all you guys this year...

I have a forge coming in from Darren.  Plus Matt & I are starting to build one.  Hopefully I'll have the fires going soon    :knothead:

Dang it I like those Tippit blades. No offense to any of the unbelievable craftsman here, as I am a real rookie & have made a total of 3 knives, but they are my favs.

I'm with you, too.
Don't get me wrong, I love what I do, but I really enjoy making these kinds of knives, and Jeff does them exceedingly well.
Actually, I had to come back to this thread just to look at that one again!
A real beauty, Jeff.
(Maybe I'll take your place and run out to Doug's for you.)

I really like that one Doc. I didn't know I had a shop full of wood stain that looks that good.

I like the file work of the back also.
