I have an old timer 150T it has a 5 3/4" blade! I'm kinda partial to it because my dad, who past away 6 years ago carryed this knife every year to Canada, and everywhere else he went! There is nothing wrong with the knife, just a little to big for my liking, so I was curious if anybody would be interested in making a little smaller drop point out of the blade? or how hard would it be to do myself? I like knives but never made one in my life!! any help would be great! Jason

In my opinion, and that is all it is, if it were my knife and it had the history yours does. I would leave it alone and make a knife that looks similar to it. It sounds like a real treasure, keep it the way it is.

Jason, think about it, once it is altered it is that way forever.
But if you want to modify it into a shorter droppoint, I'll do it for you , all you need to pay for is shipping both ways.
You can do it yourself if you have a cutoff wheel on a die grinder, and a standard bench grinder.  Then some good wet/dry sandpaper of various grits and a sanding block.

This knife is probably 30 years old maybe older! I want a knife that I can use and still keep the sentimental part of it! about the only thing I would like to use is the steal, I would even like to change the handle! then I could say, I made, or a fella made me this knife out of the one my dad use to carry all the time!!     Thanks for the reply's, Jason

Covey,
I have to agree with TBRA & Oconee Dan. Once you change it, it's not the knife your Dad used. Not even close . . If there's sentiment in it leave it as is & keep an eye out for one you'd really like to have.
Get in touch w/ Sticshooter, or one of the other makers on here they make some nice stuff very reasonably priced considering the time invested.
JMHO. . .

Age brings us the priceless gift of experience and knowledge. . . Priceless, but not free.
