Congrats Lin!!  I just sat through Kevin Cashen's Quillon Dagger power point presentation.  That is one extremely difficult blade to make.  Jeff

     I have worked all week and all weekend on my dagger. I have about 3 more days to go. I redo a lot. That is parr for the course though. Everyone I talk to about it say the same thing. I am down to the wire inlay and the fluting of the handle. Kevin Cashen may not take so long. It IS my first "sure nuf" dagger. Lin

Lin, Kevin has a cool way to get the fluting and wire in lay to line up.  He has a mandrel to slide the wooden handle on so it will rotated as he carves the fluting in.  The wire he pounds in as a inlay.  The third picture is 2 squares of brass that can be rotated at the ends of the handle on that vise.  By using women's hair scrounges in the slots, he rotate to the spiral fluting & wire lines then over sprays the handle leaving the lines to be carved out.  I'm sure this makes sense to you but I was pretty impressed even though I'll never make one of those daggers    

I took some pictures of the entire power point show if it would be of any help.  I guess there is also a DVD which shows it all too.  I guess he may also be one of the judges too...Jeff

That test is crazy.
If its not too much to ask can you post a picture of the test knife??
Do you have before and after pics??
Don't go to any trouble, I was just wondering what it looked like.
I'm happy with my file knife thats almost done....you must be extremely proud of your works of art!!!!
