Used my new Parks AAA quenchant yesterday afternoon for the first time and am very pleased. A while back it was Karl I think posted about his quench tank and quenchant. After reading his experiences and researching a few others I decided to take the leap and ordered a 5 gal bucket of the Parks. Quenched four blades yesterday and am tickled with the nice straight, clean, and hardened blades.

Thanks Karl for the heads up.

Way to go, Doug!
Nuthin' like using the correct stuff.
It also gives a fella a lot of confidence in the abilities of his steel.
I think I ought to come out there this summer and see how you use it.

Where do I get Parks AAA and how much does it cost? Thanks Jason

Doug Campbell

I looked all over and finally ordered it from Patrick @ flyingsteel.com Can't remember exact cost but the only way you can get it is 5 gallons at a time so it aint cheap.

Can anyone provide the manufacturers info for the parks aaa. I'm curious if I can aquire some through my petroleum supplier at work. If not I'll just get it from flysteel. He's only 2 hours drive from me if shipping is insane. Thanks Skippy

Hey doug could you snap a pic of the label for me???

Keep us updated Jason, I tried everybody around here I could think of and unless you were buying 500 gallons there was no way. Patrick is a good guy and lives close to the Parks plant I think so can pick it up from right there...  Shipping was around $50 to MT.

Doug I sent an email inquiring about 2 5 gallon pails so we'll see what they say. It'd be nice to deal direct even though I prefer dealing with the locals. In this day and age you have to do what you can to save a buck. I'll post up when I hear back from them. Skippy

They will not deal with you directly, is what I'll bet you will discover.

Thanks for the info guys I'll check it out. I'm on a limited budget but I would like to find something different than motor oil.

Just as suspected the manufacturer will not deal with individuals. They state they and licensed to sell only to industial facilities. Then when asked who I could contact to buy some they said and I quote "these products are not for use by individuals only industial facilities"

Looks like Patrick is the only connection to the Parks AAA. Oh well best start saving up for some golden oil at roughly $140 shipped for 5 gallons it's quite pricey but well worth it I'm sure.  Skippy
