Who? makes the Fastest recurve and are they as fast as Hybred long bows
Gord

Shawn Leonard

Jack Kempf,Border, Morrison, OL has one too from what I hear. Please remeber speed does not kill a quiet bow you can shoot accurately is what ya want.  Yes, some are as fast as the hybrids. It owuld all come down to a few fps.  Shawn

Black swan curves are fast as well.

No list of fasssst bows is complete without the Fedora 560. Oopsit was already here. LOL!!
BTW my 560 is as fast, as quiet and as easy to shoot well as my Fedora extreme.

I agree with Shawn, speed isn't everything. A properly tuned arrow with sharp heads and your ability to hit the vitals 25 yds and under will outweigh the small differences in bow speed from one bow to the next....

With that said...the Kempf T/D Recurves both Kwik Styk and Stealth and Mikutas recurve have plenty of speed with heavy arrows.

Mike Burch

Most modern recurves that I have owned are faster than the Hybrids. The hybrids just bridged the gap between the old style longbows and the recurves.

Some say, they are the best of both worlds. I can agree....Mike

Martin Saber was a fast one, so is the Quillian Canebrake, Patriot was no sleeper either.

I suspect the Morrison is as fast as any recurve you can get.The Bordor with the carbon limbs might be close but you would need a crony to tell who the winner is between them so it really does not matter.Picky by what you like the looks of and how it feels to you is the best route.Numbers are just numbers.jmo
....Quality deer management means shooting them before they get tough....

Fastest recurve I`ve ever had was a Patriot II .Sold by Archery traditions by Jim Kenny. I think Fedora jr. made it. It was swift.RC

Seeking Trad Deer

I have shot the Morrison, Fedora, and Palmer bows but none of the others mentioned here.  I didn't crono them but I would rate them fastest as Palmer, Fedora, Morrison.  Shot many other bows not mentioned here and these three were faster than all of those.

Bill Stewart MCTD is one of the fastest.  At least according to Norb Mullaney.  :readit:

I like fast and I have had a lot of fast bows. Like others said, fast is just one thing to factor into when looking for a bow. With that being said, these are some of the hands down fastest curves I have had the pleasure to own and/or shoot;

Border
Zipper
Morrison
Palmer
Big East
Marriah Thermal
Soveren Ballistic

And I'm sure I'm forgetting quite a few others but those bows come to mind. I have the Border and Thermal on my rack now. Shot my Border thru a chrono at Denton Hill last year. I shoot a 30" gold tip arrow with a 125 gr head, 3-5&1/2" sheild cut. Max reading was 211 FPS.

Practice like you are the worst, shoot like you are the best...

Don't be fooled by speed claims/hype, you can make almost any bow a 'speedburner' by minimizing overall arrow weight.  You might not be able to hit anything with it, but it'll be fast.  :)
What you're more likely to rely on as a measure of how good a bow is might be more in the collective line of grip comfort, smoothness of draw, quietness, consistency of results (with matched arrows), aesthetics, overall 'feel' (fun to shoot?)...and of course what memories it leaves you with as time passes.

Its hard to know what fits best until a person's style and form have been figured out and they have some experience with shooting for awhile.  Until then just about any decently made and weighted bow will do.  When time to buy 'custom', trying before buying is always a good approach.
