I'm just starting to make a few knives and it's really getting under my skin. I'm wondering what iron is good for blade, from stuff just laying around. (lawnmower blades,plow sheers, rebar etc. Thanks alot - Rod
Everything has a place and purpose, and when it gets out of place, it's loosing it's purpose. (my Grandpa )

Spring steel. I specifically like large truck springs.

  I can reduce them down in size by forging and get a lot of material and the forging process seems to help the blade become tougher.
