hey guys i have a quick question. i have a couple of different blades(ats34,154cm,and s30v)that i have been workin on. my question is: is there any way to make these blades look aged or well...crude, i guess would be the word. ??? not to hurt the strength or rust resistance....maybe a solution to dip or soak the blades in??

thanks for the help

sounds like to me it couldnt hurt to give the mustard a try, if it stains your on the right track if not no big deal: after all it it is stainless. to qoute another knife maker KHALVERSON "you dunno till you try"!  :goldtooth:

Lin Rhea mentioned some time ago about a stainless steel blackener.  I have not tried it, but kept the link for when I was ready to.
You may be able to cut it down some, thin it, and get the proper effect you are looking for.  I don't know what it is based on (oil, water, laquer thinner, etc.), you'll have to buy it and experiment for yourself.
