I asked a couple of the guy's that live around the Selkirk area, maybe not real close but close enough, if they had as many bunnies around their place as Shawn does. The answer was no.  I grew up outside of Buffalo and there were a lot of bunnies around but nothing like at the bunny hunt. This has to make a person think that this whole thing is a gift from God to help those kids out, there is just too many good things going on here to be just a fluke, or just plain luck. I feel very fortunate to have taken part in this and to have met Shawn and all the others, there's more here than just dumb luck.

My Dad who grew up hunting the area always said "We have so many bunnies because we kill so many bunnies!" I have to agree that this is more than luck and I think the people who attend the hunt have something to do with it as well, we kill bunnies and lots of them, after all!! OOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHH YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Shawn

Curt and I talked about the same thing, the amount of rabbits there is amazing.

I have to beleive that, too, that there wasn't a rabbit out there that didn't get harrassed, kicked, shot at, stomped on, or otherwise bothered.  There were just too many feet in there kickin them out.

Shawn, it was good to see your dad doing well.  It was great hunting with him when he came out with us in all that slash.  I rememeber him coming out of some of the nastiest stuff after a drive.  I couldn't believe a man could get through it.  I think he had his selfbow with him.  He got to the field, gave a big smile, and headed out for the next push.

I got to learn not to ride in the back of his truck too!!  :biglaugh:

Mr. Bob Brown AKA Wapiti Chaser, is an awesome shot I have shot 3D with him and had the pleasure of hunting with him at the bunny hunt and on other occasions. Some guy's have that knack of hitting game and Bob is one of them, I watched him shoot the bunny that is in this photo and also the one he hit on brier back mountain, both were running shots and both were solid hits. Your the man Bob and it's always a pleasure to hunt and shoot with you.

Do ya think I can be a brush buster next year? All you have to do is ask me. I know I'm only 24" tall but maybe I can crawl into them there pipes to push the bunnies out.

I did see Skipp, bamboo and some others tryin' to shove a tree into the ground. Kinda thought they were tryin' to re-plant it or something.

Can't wait for next year! Thank You Shawn and Family!

Mike, you might be short bro, but you have one of the biggest hearts I know of. You are always welcome in my woods bud. Awesome book by the way.

There are quite a few bunnies around there. I always thought I had a lot here until I went to the hunt last year. Those rabbits must..like rabbits.  :D

Im still waiting for the videos...  :campfire:

Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke;

Thanks Jamie. I had that book for a while. Figured you would have an interest in it. Glad you like it!

I learned alot about bunny hunting and how they react to pressure this time out. Hunting with trad bows is sooooo much fun. We can be close to each other and witness most of the action. Wouldn't do that with firearms. Cool! Just wish it was more than once a year. Warm up hunts mean alot. I have to make time for this stuff more often.

Hey Shawn! Did Ya Get Your Voice Back Yet?   :p

O.K., O.K. ... I don't have any pics to post so I'll tell about the bunnies I saw and shot at. Happy?

Walking along the airport fence with killdeer and letin' the mob keep going (because I kinda like to be the rear guard) I tell killy, "Let's hang back and let the bunnies use this brush line to get away from the main group. Maybe we'll get a shot.") And that is what happenes! We both miss.   :(

That's when Shawn tells killdeer to "Keep an eye on the kids." Like a good person she does. Now I make my Lone Wolf exit to the rear again.... "WE" are all gonna push this way! Got it? Yea... Bye. So I hold back like a sneakie pete again and have a bunnie doing 50 mph jump outa the cover and use the trail runin' straight away. PERFECT SHOT Right Over His Head! Then he dumps back into the thick stuff. Would you believe the same thing happens twice again!? True. Gotta Love This Bunny Hunting. Had a blast without the mess.

P.S. The Book? ... "Story In Stone" about stone arrow and spear points.
