I did it! Monday afternon I got my first deer or any critter, with trad gear. At 6:35 pm this sleek 4 pt came into a apple tree at the end of a mile long corn field. I was 20 ft up in my Lone Wolf sit and climb. He wasted no time coming in for a snack and quickly gave me the 18 yd broadside shot I needed, he put his head down for one last bite, I picked a spot came to anchor for a split second and watched my arrow hit home smashing the opposite shoulder, blood was visible instantly he ran a short 50 yds and I heard the tell tale crash. I waited 15 minutes then walked up on the best sight ever, I cannot explain the emotions that came over me at that moment, other than my son taking his first deer this is my greatest acheivement in hunting ever and will be locked in my memory forever. I would like to thank my dad Harold for always bringing me hunting and fishing from the time I could walk, and my wonderful fiancee' Amy for putting up with my obsession and always supporting me in it, and never complaining when I am gone all the time. And finally thank you Dave Knipes aka Vermonster13, you are my friend, mentor, and teacher, you have taken me under your wing during this journey, this would not have been possible without you this ones for you bud. I used a 60" Zipper recurve 49lbs @ 28" I draw 31" Beman ICS Bowhunter carbon shafts full length in 340 spine, 125gr Magnus 2 glued onto 75gr adapters for 200 up front. A great combo that performed awesome. I'm gonna try the pic thing hopefully this works. Finally thanks to all of you woderful people you have all helped me out more than you know. I forgot to add I got the buck in the Claremont New Hampshire area. Chris

Congrats beautiful buck and bow!!!
To me, the ultimate challenge in bowhunting is not how far away you can succesfully make a killing shot but rather how close you can get to the animal before shooting.

Congratulations!  Until I hear otherwise, I think you're the first Trad Ganger to take a deer in NH this year.

(Me, I'm taking my time and "savoring" the moments.  Like the doe that walked up on me this morning.  While I was stump shooting my way out, 'cuz I was "done" deer hunting for the day.  No, she didn't wait for me to switch arrows.  And yup, I'm sure she knows that tomorrow and Saturday are forecast to be monsoon days hereabouts . . .)

Apex Predator

Man, that's awesome.  Good way to start off.  It's a great feeling isn't it?
I didn't claw my way to the top of the food chain to eat vegetables!
