Last spring I got a Selfbow in a trade with Frenchy Manny.  Sometime during the year I decided that I was going to take an animal with the bow, or.........well lets not go there, not a good thought!
Just before my second trip to Montana I got some arrows ready for the bow, it was kind of a mix, 2 grizzlys, and 2 Wensel Woodsmans weighted with #6 shot to 150 grains, both sets of arrows flew extremely good.
On Sunday morning on of the "WW's" got the call to be the first arrow on the string.  Somewhere around 07:15 a deer was spoted making a beeline that would bring her right in front of my stand.  As she passed behind the limb before the on her way to the opening, I came to full draw, as she cleared I picked a spot, and loosed the arrow....It was like poetry in slow motion, I saw the arrow leave the string and watched the whole flight, the coolest part was watching the feathers dissapear in her chest.  The deer made a 180 turn and ran back out in the field, only to expire a few seconds later!
As I got out of the tree to retrive my arrow everything I saw was comfirmed by the color change of the arrow.

This was the first arrow that I shot out of this bow at an animal, and the first taken with a selfbow!
I think I am hooked, this winter I am going to try to make one!

I guess if we run into the bear that is making these tracks, we oughta just get off the trail.......He seems to like it!
