Here is a pic of a black bear that I killed in Northern Saskatchewan.  A friend of mine talked me into picking up a stick bow last fall and also talked me into going on this bear hunt with him at the end of May 2007.  He is my first trad kill ever (first bow kill)  and I did it with a Morrison 66 pound recurve and Carbon Express Arrows that were built by Sandy Horne at Horne's Archery.  I was on cloud nine after finding him piled up after about a 50 yard blood trail.  He weighed 550 lbs. and green scored 20 and 1/8 inches.  I am now completely hooked on this stick bow hunting.  Cannot wait to kill my first whitetail.  The pics don't do him justice.

Wow! it takes guts to go after a bear after only a year with trad bow.I'm jealous.I have thinking of a bear hunt, moose or somthing. Was this a do it yourself type thing or did you find an outfitter. That bear looks big to me.congrats
Your best shot is only as good as your next one!

Hey Hill Boy...a group of friends and I booked the hunt at Black Bear Island Lodge.  The web address is  www.Blackbearisland.com.   It was a fully guided hunt with incredible fishing also.

I tried to position him right after we found him but he was to dang heavy.  It took 3 of us (3 big guys)about an hour to carry him back to the boat.

Stripstrike1, Are you sure your not on "CRACK"    :scared:

I know your not, your on the good stuff, it's called mainlining, straight into your hart, 100% PURE ADRENALIN, the best high on earth, given by God, to men who are willing to get out of there comfort zone and get a little wild.

I think you might become an addict, most of the guys around hear try and score every day, I know, I'm dealing with a 27 year habit, and I'm no closer to being cured.

I think it might have gotten worse, every time I think I'm getting better a bigger bear or a bigger buck or a giant bull comes by and the next thing I know, I'm missing work, I cant sleep, I lie to the wife about where I'm gong, It's a sham-full addiction.

So, welcome to a gang of adrenalin junkies, it sounds like your hooked.

Osagetree I am concerned that you may have been a little underbowed for the game you were after. I mean 70# for frogs is marginal at best. LOL

Osagetree

Well you never know when a full grown Bull might charge at you from out of the darkenss.

You must be ready for that,,, you know!
