Fellow Tradganger Jackdaw's dad has had some health issues going on recently. A recent hospital visit concerning his COPD led to some further testing and it was discovered that he has some form of leukemia also. He is home now and they are going to be discussing treatments with the Oncologist in the near future. John's Dad is 81.

Prayers for his Dad, John and the family, as they try to figure out what the next move will be would be appreciated. Thanks to all.

Drat....sorry to hear that is laid on the family.  There is no guarantee as we age...

Prayers abound for them all, that God's perfect will be embraced and God's peace that passes understanding keep them close and in his Grace.

Keep the Son in your eyes, John!

Indeed.  And it's perhaps the most helpless feeling to have to sit by and watch our beloved parents struggle with health issues... I know it was for me with both of them.

Mom lived in abject pain from arthritis, the bad kind, for decades... then in the end, undiagnosed lower GI organ cancer spread to her spine and caused even more horrific pain...finally, once diagnosed, she just decided it was time to "go home to Jesus" and in 15 days, she was gone!

Dad fought thru a mild stroke, but ended up in a nursing home, the last 15 months bedridden unless they used this horrid Hoyer LIFT that looked like loading cattle in a ship hold!

Drives home the point Jack, we are NOT in charge. We delude ourselves at times, but we are not.  The changes to elder care, insurance and what docs are doing to compensate with Washington's edicts, has been driven home to me since relocating to another state and being on Medicare.

It ain't pretty!

Trust in God and realize only HE is in charge in the end...and this world is not our home...not really.

Prayers continue for strength and peace

Just got off the phone with John. His Dad is back in the hospital and they are trying to get oxygen levels were they are suppose to be.

His Pop is not a happy camper, I would not be either if it felt like an Elephant was sitting on my chest.

Keep the whole crew in your prayers please. Thanks.

Gads! I remember when my father had a mild stroke, ended up in rehab, doing rather well, then transferred to the nursing home at the retirement village where he and mom had lived.

Brings back rough memories.

As stated before, only thing worse than watching ailing parents fail, is to watch or have a child fail, before your eyes!  :(

Prayers continue for his father, John, and for Jack and his family in this most trying of times.

Lord in your mercy...hear our prayers.

As we're told, his father is now with OUR FATHER, and at peace, made whole in body, mind and spirit without our earthly physical limitations.

May God's loving grace hold John Jr and his family and friends in the palm of His hand, giving them solace and unity in this time of grief for a father gone...but not lost!

Jack, Keep the Son in your eyes!

guys, thanks for all the well wishing and prayers. Its really appreciated..my father Don Getz lived  a good life and was one of the charter members in 1959 of the shade Mountain bow club. we were still shooting recurves as of a month ago. He loved his 1961 Kodiak Special.. It was one of the last joys in life that he could do. I love this site....many people with their moral compasses pointing due North...! so, on behalf of me..John "jackdaw" Getz...and my father Donald " flintlock barrel maker" Getz,  we are humbled to be in the presence of such a great group of guys.....Peace to all....
