Storm passed over us here in the foothills but slammed midstate and eastern half. Hows it going down there guys, everyone ok????

I kept watching the updates on the storm and was a little worried.  Thankfully by the time it made it this far east we hardly even had any rain.

Sanford was hit hard. 21 deaths in all. Some reports say 22.

Bernie is fine.  We shot Sunday in the Croatan.

All points east of central NC were worse.

One hit near my office (in Gloucester, VA., about 1.5 miles up the road), and another about 6 miles down the road from my house in Middlesex County(the twister hit Deltaville).  

As it applies to the Gloucester twister... well, you can easliy see the path it took (because nothing left untouched, and "stuff" is thrown everywhere.  Real Scary! Lots of destruction here, there, everywhere.  Three people lost their lives in the storm.  

In Deltaville, their looking at about 90 homes (I think that's right).. either severly damaged or completely destroyed.    

Thank goodness, everyone is accounted for and all is well tonight.  Thanks for asking!

One of my best hunting buddies lives in Joplin, MO. I've been helping him learn to shoot the recurve he picked up recently. Fortunately he and his family were all spared. I talked to him yesterday, and he told me of his experiences going into the part of town that was hit, to help the victims. He's had some medical training when in the service, and helped out at the hospital that was hit. He and his son drove their side-by-side ATV around helping people, and his stories are really horrifying. I've spent a lot of time up there myself, and most of the area I was familiar with is just plain gone. The town will never be the same.

Today I drove through some of central Mississippi where the tornadoes ripped things up on their way to Tuscaloosa. The damage is incredible. One of my sons had a tree down on his house, and the tornado that hit Tuscaloosa passed within a few hundred yards of his place. One of the people I do business with in the town of Starkville was killed. I went to the business today, and it was pretty intense hearing the stories of his tragedy. My daughter-in-law is from the town of Smithville, MS, which was essentially wiped out by the same tornado that went on to Tuscaloosa, but her family was spared. They lost several friends.

This year will go down in history.
