We woke up this morning and she had just passed in her sleep. I guess if your gonna go that would be the best way. She will be greatly missed.

Archery isn't something I do, it's who I am!
The road to "Sherwood" makes for an awesome journey.

Very sorry for your loss. We lost our lab to a car this winter. So I know how you feel.

Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. TGMM ♥

My dog mean a great deal to me.

My sincere sympathy goes out to you and your family.

Sorry for your loss.  Asleep in your home with your loved ones is a good end to a dog's life, I'm thinking.  It does tear your heart up for sure.

Remember the good times.

Rudyard Kipling has a few grest poems about man & dog.

Give it a month and Google them up, but I wouldn't do it now as I well up just thinking about them.

This is sometimes easy and sometimes not so much. I raised and trained bird dogs and most of them their final day was a blessing. Then on the other hand there were those that you will never forget. Every time I read these threads of the good ones passing the ones I miss come flooding back into my memory.

Sorry brother.

Hold on to the memories, I am very sorry for your loss.
What would you attempt to do, if you knew you could not fail?

Never leave the one you love, for the one you like.

Night Wing

Sorry for your loss. I can relate.

Our first cat, a Lynxpoint Siamese female, lived 19 years, 6 months and 6 days when we had to put her to sleep at our vet's. That was a tough decision, but it was the right decision since she wouldn't eat anymore. She was my wife's cat since the cat picked my wife as her favorite person.

We now have a Manx breed tailess tabby male who in June will be 14 years old. He's still going strong since he can still run like the wind and jump way up high if he wants to so I'm hoping his demise is many, many years off. He's "my" cat since he picked me as his favorite person.

When you lose a devoted pet companion; whether the pet is a hunting or non hunting companion, it's always a very, very sad day.

It's been a year since my 15-year old Lab, Chili, died. I still miss her every day. My thoughts are with you.

"Heaven is a place where every dog you ever loved comes to greet you".

Hermon

I fear that I will be in your shoes too soon.  We have a 15 yr old dog that is really starting to show his age lately.  Sorry for your loss.

But his bow will remain steady, and his hands will be skillful; because of the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, because of the Shepherd, the Rock of Israel,  (Genesis 49:24 [NETfree])

Missed this one: Being a person who dearly loves dogs but allergic so bad can't even pet the critters, I can not easily imagine having that bond and losing it.

I've lived vicariously through all my friends pets and relationships and it's like losing a child when one goes down.

Prayers for peace and healing of the heart so that the joy of memories may wash away the pain!
The words "Child" and "terminal illness" should never share the same sentence! Those who care-do, others question!
