Just came across this, prayers to Tred and his family.

Capt. Tred Barta Hospitalized May 19, 2009 On Monday, May 18th Tred suffered a rare occurrence called a spinal stroke.
"The stroke affecting his T2-T10 vertebrae. Since there are only 12 of these Thoracic bones, that´s a very large area. He is currently paralyzed from just below the chest down. Prognosis is way up in the air at the moment. Some medicos claim permanent paralysis while others have given him up to a 60-percent chance of at least partial recovery. His message to everyone is... "Don´t take a single second of your life for granted." This note came to us from our Board Member Dean Travis Clarke.

We ask you all too please send your thoughts and prayers out to Tred, Anni and the entire Barta Family. If anyone can overcome this diversity it will be Tred.

As most of you know, Tred is not computer savvy and we are sure he would appreciate Get Well Cards to keep his spirits up. Please mail to Tred Barta, P.O. Box 900, Eagle, CO 81631.

You can also post to this link below and Anni can show him your responses. Everyone involved with the Barta Boys and Girls Club Billfish Tournament and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Coastal Carolina want to send out a big GET WELL SOON TRED.

As Tred wrote on our weigh in station board "Never Give Up, Never Say Never" we now say that to you Tred.

I really hope he can beat this. What a terrible thing to happen to someone.
Frankly - if his upper half is working; the fish and deer are far from safe.
My concerns and prayers for Tred.
THE VOICES HAVEN'T BOTHERED ME SINCE I STARTED POKING THEM WITH A Q-TIP.
