Gordy - thought we lost him

aortic aneurysm almost took my brother - known here as Gordy.  Not out of the woods yet, but for such an uphill battle, he's hanging in there - will know more when they wake him up tomorrow.

We praise you for just who you are, and we thank you for your salvation, blessings, and infinite wisdom. Thank you for your healing hands, and we ask that you continue to place them on Gordy, and use them through the doctors and staff who are taking care of him. Let his health return to normal, and may he recover completely, to Your glory, and honor.

Thanks to all ....especially the most high guy.

I continue to wake every morning !    ...and I just found this thread this morning.

A very special thank you to my brother Jay (Northridge) this Thanksgiving Eve, for all of his help and dedication at the hospital keeping my domestic affairs somewhat calm and orderly. thanks brother, I know that was no small feat.

Today I'm recovering from a follow up surgery to relieve some build up/pressure of lymph fluids in my groin area.  All went well....

I had a unique experience Monday, getting to meet many of the people who were involved in saving my life at the hospital that morning of the 12th and hearing the story from their perspective.

As I was prepped for this second simple surgery, I had Nurses and Doctors stopping by my room to introduce themselves and tell me what part they played that morning of the 12th.

Last one to visit was the surgical nurse...assistant.  She was VERY enthused to meet me and told me how things went down....and they continue to become very emotional issues for me.

I had been transferred by ambulance from another hospital. When I left the first hospital I knew I was in trouble...I knew I may not even make the ride...I knew time was short. That was difficult because I also knew my girlfriend wasn't exactly in the know yet.....  on the ride over, I thought of her...my kids and kept hoping...wondering if I had already done ok.  If I were to pass....would everything be ok. ? Overwhelming emotion....next time I hope there is now question !  

Anyway, what had happened to me that morning was that I had a dissecting aeorta with an aenursym behind it.  This is what killed John Ritter.  The aeorta basically delaminates and detaches from the heart...  my aeorta had started to tear that morning...I was in pain.  I knew I was in trouble too...but somehow managed to wake up Nathalie and make it safely to the Er....I thought I was simply having a mild heart attack and would be at work the next day ......sure.

Through no small miracle I happened to have a mild heart attack at the same time which allowed my body to tense up and occlude the tear.....  at this point, it's about ...10am maybe ?  This whole thing started at 6am. Why am I still alive ?

Back to the surgical nurse....who told me as the surgeon finish the sternotomy (splitting me open), my aeorta finally gave out and they were able to put me on the bypass machine.  She said she could see me starting to bleed out just as they opened me up.
Many times I have been told I am a very lucky person and that I must have unfinished business here.
At this point, I don't think it's sunk in....the emotional part hits me hard sometimes .....guilt, sadness for my family and of course joy that all is well..for now.

Work and career seems SO insignificant right now....it actually worries me.

And again thank my brother Jay for his help with family through this ordeal.

Wow! Arthritic flare ups and no job seems small taters after reading that!

Indeed, our God is an awesome God, Gordy...and it would appear that He's not done with you yet for timing t have been so split second that saved your life!

Mom used to call them "God-incidences" not coincidences!

Keep healing...doing what you're told...find that which He has for you and when you're well enough, git er done! HOpe to see your posts a good long time yet to come!

Prayers are working fellas !  

They gave me the go-ahead to drive short distances and I'm cleared to resume work in January.

Still hard to believe this happened to me and that I'm walking around with a mechanical valve in my heart .....amazing medicine these days !

Not amazing medicine alone...but some strong God-incidences vs. coincidences that things worked out as they have. God spared you for a purpose, brother! Neat!  

Preachin to the choir here..now go tell any bloke you meet what God did for ya! Amazing story, brother. I know you won't waste what time you've been given.
