I have an honest question, what is the price difference in value between a perfect "A" riser that's been signed (obviously somewhere around $3500)and one that has been repaired or restored??

I have no brand in this fire, most of you know I can't afford an A or B wood riser regardless of condition... unless I sell off everything else and I like having a wide variety of vintage bows so that's not happening

I am only curious, so if no one wants to answer here please PM me

My opinion here.
A signed riser is NOT worth $3500 or $2500 for that matter.
A really nice original A or B riser will sell between $1500-$2000. I recently sold a magnificent original A riser for $1500.
I could of got a couple hundred more if I shopped it but was happy to let a fellow collector have it.
The notion of these crazy prices recently being the norm is insane.
I paid $2500 for a signed original B riser recently. Thats alot of money but I wanted it because it was not only completely original but knew the signature was genuine.
It was on **** in 2 seperate auctions for $3500 with no bids at all.

Allowing others to see what one of the better known collectors actually pays or charges is always a valuable lesson.
I guess I was trying to put a $ amount on the difference.

There always seems to be a "hot" collectable bow sometimes you can watch the ups and downs like the 59K or the 64/65K's and now A and B handles seems like some of those prices might of been a touch over inflated looking back...

I have never been lucky enough to sell a bow at the high $ mark  
I have been lucky in buying some great bows at their low though lol

This more about misrepresentation than buying high or low though......

Guess what? To date it looks like somebody got out of Dodge faster than a New York minute. I got a bunch of PMs, but they only came from one side.

I am not confused, but I now have a migraine. (And I didn't even lose a mortgage payment!)

Still open to a good explanation from the seller or his legal staff ....

 A Stickbowman is a bit of a different animal given how rare they are on handles. Only 20-30 have beed said to exhist by the late Al Reader. For this reason prices are a bit more than the average signature. One of few bows that I was willing to pay a price for a good one. If I came across a bow that was owned, and shot by Fred himself it may be on my top dollar list. Prices are up on handles. Plain Jane type 1 are bringing $2000+ and don't trip my trigger as a collector, but do for others.  Recently a well known collector paid almost $3500 for a signed type 2 on the big site.  Comes down to willing seller/willing buyer. It's an old business philosophy. On the big site, all it takes is 2 people who want the item bad enough to drive prices up. A bow with holes, or filled holes tend to drop prices drasticly for collectors.

Come on Rich,at this point its all tongne in cheek lets not get into politically correct crap. I'm not angry and was trying to lighten it up.Deals done my butt is sore but will heal-LESSON learned. The refrence was just what folks did to rascals at one time. Heck some places they took body parts off of fellers for certain unsavory deeds.

in that regard.. i am not a fan of the written word in delicate sensative situations..i am guilty of writing lots of stuff that goes totally misunderstood. only being politically correct here cause ya never know when you'll get "that notice". Sometime somewhere I'll sell the bow take the hit and go out for steak and lobster. As for now I have it on the rack in plain view as a reminder of how things can go south. Don't wish the guy ill will and hope the cash did him some good.

Well I have a possible solution to lessen the blow. I went to my accountant yesterday and if I sell the bow at a loss I can deduct the difference on my taxes as long as I have the proof of what I payed which I do in the form of the canceled endorssed check from seller.
