Looking for some info.  I was at a local auction this evening and was the lucky winning bidder on what I believe is a 57  or 58 Kodiak. The bow is a 60in 42#  seriel EG304.  Its all (Maple)  light wood with a darker strip of wood on each side of the riser.  White or cream colored glass.  And is in great condition, no holes, limbs straight, tips perfect, leather wrapped grip perfect, but I do need part of or the whole rest.  A leather strike plate in there , but bottom rug, or feather-rest is gone.  Would like some advice on what length string, what type of rest, and from who to purchase.  Am looking forward to shooting it. Also would like to purchase the correct year quiver, if anyone has an extra, shoot me a pm.   Thanks in advance.  Allen

Trap makes the feather rest that are just like the original Bear ones,Bob York makes the best repo arrow side plates..yorkmail@yahoo.com  if that is what you want to go with.

With the white glass, it is a 1958 Kodiak. They had a one piece leather rest and side plate. Here's a picture of mine that I refinished. I made a new leather grip and rest/side plate and bought new decals from Decal Al. Hope the picture comes out, haven't done it for awhile.

I figured it out.  As to what string length, I made a 56", 14 strand B50 flemish twist string. Since yours is 42#, I would probably go with a 12 strand B50, but a 14 wouldn't hurt either.

Good Luck...the '58 is a super, cool bow!

Nice refinish, Yeager. Very nice. I have a 58 that is orginal although it lacked side plate and arrow rest. I do not have them correct yet but eventually will. Also waiting on a perido correct string -- white with red serving -- from a friend who is froze up in Minnesota. Fingers wont work until May or June.
