It's not an old bow but I hope that this is permissible for a heads-up.

I stumbled upon Fred Bear's hat for sale by Dick Lattimer's daughter, item # 261133866184

Talk about a cool collectable...

It'll be an interesting item to watch.

A bit pricy for a hat with a hole in it, poor shape. Might be Fred's but that is a bit much for a hat.

It would be worthless without the hole!

I wonder what happened to Charlie Kroll's old hat? The top was almost unthreaded and wide open. I used to kid him about not keeping much sun off of his head.

...if it is really his head and not a "copy".

At the end70's/beginning80s "Hitler's diaries" were sold to the German magazine "Stern"/"Star".

The contents of the first issues was published and after a glorious press conference and hundred thousands of sold copies of the paritcular issue of the magazine our federal police agency proofed them to be a fake.

About 10 years later the incident was the topic of a film called "Schtonk" which was a great success. At the beginning of the film the man who faked the diaries was shown as a young boy already creating artifacts around the then bygone Nazi-Regime. One of the artifacts was a German uniform cap which he certificated as "the Fuhrer's private Sunday hat" which he sold to a GI and later on almost everyone was the proud owner of a certificated "Fuhrer's private Sunday hat".

Since then in cases like the topic of this thread it comes to my mind: Fred Bear's private Sunday hat"...

I will say this: IF it is dick lattimers daughter that is making the sale and IF the hat belonged to Dick I will bet it is the real deal.

vintage-bears

I know that hat well.
It was one of PapaBear's hats, a treasure.

If only I had an extra grand to blow. ;o)

Blackstick

It looks like you would have needed more than that extra grand.

Shane Reed

Your Correct Blackstick, but I am glad to know the person who won the hat. He is taking a trip from Kentucky to Grayling to pick it up personally. At least I can keep track of the hat ;o)

copicasso

Couldn't of gone to a better man. It will end up in a really nice collection that even I am jealous of.

Shane Reed

Just received this cool hat from John K. Thought I would share. It's a bit small for me, but I will try it in the woods anyway   :archer2:
