I was told it might be a proto type for 1963.It was explained that it was made in 1962 to be sent out to dealers for testing.I read somewhere that 1963 kodiaks were rare because they broke.Something about a dogleg.

Jack Shanks

It is a Type III '63 Kodiak Magnum. The 1963 type I broke and was replaced with the type II. The type II also were prone to breakage and replaced with the type III. Hard to find a type I or type II. Not so much a type III.

I love the Bubinga in the 63,I traded my 63 KMag and it was a great bow with excellent looking wood as my 63 Kodiak.

That that is freakin amazing how do you do know from looking at serial numbers. Is there something in the seriel number that give the type.So if the bow is not so much hard to find is it something that people use to hunt with.I mean would i be dumb for useing it to hunt with or is it too collectable.Im really not a collecter and only buy old bows because theres nothing like them thier awesome. Thanks alot for your replys.

450 marlin

It is the shape of the risers, here is a type III and type II . The type I had even less limb mated to the riser.

Can i use it to hunt with or is it too collectable?

Horney Toad

I think that type III is okay to shoot. I don't know if the serial numbers are known on the different types or not. You can tell it is a 1963 from the shape.

Jack Shanks

Lots of people hunt with the Type III Kodiak Magnums. If it were a Type I or Type II probably better to hang it up or sell it to a collector.

The type III's are fine to shoot and use. They are fairly common and there is no troubles with them.

I have shot one of my Type II's also.
