I am looking to get some information on a bow I added to my collection a few years back.
It is a Wilson Brothers Black Widow HF-4144.

The bow is 58" and a child's draw weight of 61@25.
Yes, 61@25.
It appears to be maple and has maroon glass back and belly.
I am a lefty and have never shot it.

One friend told me the bow was made in 1960.
Are these good shooters, and are they collectable?

Thanks,
Doug

I had a really good group going... until I shot the second arrow.

My best bows are the ones someone else didn't want.

I have a little info not much but you could call BW and they can tell you what day the bow was shipped out.But yours is a late model 1960 for sure 1960 serial numbers were 2671 to 4175 wilson bros built 1504 bows that year.
1961 wilson bros BW catalog says MODEL HF price 69.50 a 58" bow for draws to 30" and weights to 70 pounds this is an ideal model for those who prefer a short hunting bow or want a fast stable bow that can be used for Field, Hunting, flight or Archery Golf bd

Nice bow! I just shot the sister bow to that one last week!! It had a maple riser that was factory painted black and had that same "cranberry" glass. It was made in 1960......this one was 49# at 28". Nice bows for sure,,,they have some value...just not in the 1959-1960 bear Kodiak territory.

I acquired a 1960 model lefty several years ago, and gave it to a left-handed friend. Great shooter, and the strung profile is VERY similar to the 59/60 Kodiak. CKruse

BW did not sell lots of bows out of plain hard rock maple. But for me I love them I love the look of the plain jane. Here's a pic of a bit later model I been working on bd

Sweet bow Lefty! Very collectable to those who know its shooting characteristics, although the weight may not be desireable for some it gets me excited  :D  Id love to see how it casts an arrow.

"Are these good shooters, and are they collectible?"

Black Widow has never made a "bad" shooting bow.    :D    ;)
