Just picked up a A mag riser, 45# #2 limbs, 3 grips 1R,2R& 3R, 3 orange loop sight plate in addition to non sight off the shelf plate, little silver stablizer all for $500.  Anyhow I got it and it smells like army surplus and looks flaky.  Flaky charcoal wasnt a riser color option was it?   :biglaugh:

Thinking of taking off the removable hardware and scrubbing down then sending off to get dipped.

This has no major collectable value correct?

So dipping predator camo and getting some #2 RER limbs to use this hunting wouldnt be a mistake.

Anyone know where I can get the bear metal coin for the other side?

Thanks,
Andrew

That is an early handle and it did not come with a coin. When the bears on the latches disappeared the coin showed up.

yellow bow

Artic Gray was the color. The riser was flocked [fuzzy finish] no coin/button,bears on latches.Nice find. Enjoy it.

super find ,RERs are fine, but those limbs will work very well also. figure out which grip you like the best and go at it !!

Thanks guys, so you wouldnt refinish it?
Do you use 2 sided auto tape to attach the grip like you would with a compound or is there something else?
Thanks, again

I tried the tape but the grip still slid everywhere for me. I used this stuff : plastic weld ....2 part epoxy, the grip is firm but don't know if I can remove without damaging.

Certainly shootable in that condition.  Just depends on what you like to look at.  Refinishing probably won't add to its value, at least probably not enough to cover the cost of refinishing if you have someone else do it.  I agree that those limbs will shoot just fine.  I have some red tip and white tip limbs for my A mag riser, and see no need for other aftermarket limbs.  I think I used contact cement on the grip after I refinished the riser myself.  Has stayed in place nicely  Don't exactly know how I'll get it off if I ever need to.

afriend and I use to make aftermarket wood grips for compound bows back in the late 80's and we always mounted them with clear silicone adhesive . tape the grip in place and let it dry overnight ,then you can remove the tape and your good to go !It holds great but if you need to remove use a little extra ummph and it will come off and if any of the silicone stays on the riser it usually just rubs/peals off.
just a suggestion it worked for us !!

kuch

what aftermarket wood grips ??
