browning fury 2

Just picked up a beautiful browning fury 2... this is the first ive seen with the accent stripe...i thought it was odd that one nock was grey and the other black...the bow is gorgeous and has black glass....are any of you familiar with whether browning made all the fury 2 like this..or is this one an odd ball..thanks..

I'm also looking for brownings recommended braceheight on all of their hunting models if you happen to have a catalog handy and can share the info with me ..send me a pm..thanks and heres some pics for all to enjoy.

I really do not recall ever seeing one with a Maple looking stripe I seem to always remember yellow wood. Jim

Never seen a cheap looking Browning and that one is no exception,good score.

I have a 50lb Fury II and both nocks are black and it has the yellow stripe. Great shooting bow...very smooth and quick and the recurves are alot more curved than my other Brownings

Jim Pic...i think i may have just recently saw your bow on another site in a pic on your rack.... Maybe the bowyer had a brain fart when putting the nocks together on this bow    but unique anyhow.

Jashu..it's my understanding that Browning bought out gordon glass archery line in early 60's....Gordon is the developer and manufacturer of the glass used in most recrurves and compounds today. Gordon had a real nice line of recurves built in the 50s and early 60's... After Browning bought out their line, I believe they took along some of gordons bowyers and moved to Morgan Utah around 1963...  Browning used some of the old Gordon forms, but also added bows that were designed by Harry Drake when he started working for Browning..Drake was well known for his limb design and flight shooting records.  The old Gordon bows and some of the early brownings used multiple 5 or 6 skinny lams in their limbs...Browning later used less and thicker lams to save money. There are a bunch of beautiful bows ..Browning had some beautiful woods in their risers..... The explorers, safaris, and the little wasp were great shooters.... the 3 piece backpacker with belly mounted limbs is a cool little bow also...Drake also had a patent on a folding target and hunter bow.....This is not to mention their target line of bows that were also top notch in their day...

Wow, you have really studied the Brownings. That is the most fun of collecting old archery stuff. Learning about their history. But, at the same time we can still play with our collections. I commend you on picking something different than Bear. I still love Grayling and everything about it, but that bow is way cool. I am sure I will see it in person this winter..

That's what got me started too. I picked up a 40xlb Wasp for my girlfriend earlier this year and it was just a bit too much weight for her. I strung it up and started shooting it...and I liked it! So now I have 8 Brownings(she has a sweet little 38# Nomad now),a few more old Bears,and a couple of Shakespeare's

Just wanted to resurrect an old post, and let ya know that I just bought a Fury II a few days ago. It looks identical (except for the tips) to Jacobsladders pictures with the maple colored accent stripe. Im a reformed compound shooter, and this fury is shooting very well for me. Loving shooting the recurve, and love this forum, I have learned SOO much just from reading posts. Does anyone know the approximate age of these bows? I seen a Browning archery ad where a guy was holding a bow that looked just like the fury II and it was dated 1970, does that sound right? Also, did I miss someone answer Jacobs question about brace height on this bow? I cant find much info about these bows. Thanks for all ur help guys!!
