I just got this and there's a question as to whether under all the camo paint this is a 1970 or a 1967 K-Mag?
What is the best way to remove paint. LQQking to do my first refinish bow.

i asked that question a few days ago, and they told me to use nail polish remover and it worked great and the bow looks great

It is either a 65 or a 67 1/2

Interesting tidbit, the Bear catalog lists the 1967 kmag as golden rosewood and bubinga riser with brown glass, and the 1967 1/2 catalog lists the kmag as bubinga and brazilian rosewood riser with forest green glass. Those bows had a curved stripe in the riser which was nice. The 1970-1972 bows had a straight stripe. Funny, but the above pic does not look like brazilian rosewood, looks more like golden rosewood and bubinga. Should be real pretty when it is re-done.

I'm not sure why they had 2 different catalogs in 1967, I think it had something to do with the super kodiak coming out too late in 1967 to be in the first catalog.

If you're planning on going the nail polish remover route, you're better off going to the hardware store and getting a jug of acetone.  Most nail polish removes have nail hardeners in them that would remain on the bow after you've cleaned off the paint.
She's gonna be a looker when you've got her cleaned up!

Yes the acetone works great with a scotchbrite pad.Be careful not to scrub of the silk screens..But I would also like to add one note to be careful...not get acetone or finger nail polish remover onto exposed wood,like the edges of the limbs were the finish can sometimes be chipped...Acetone and NPR are wet i.e moisture and will sometimes,not all the time.Soak up and little acetone or NPR into the corewood and cause the corewood to swell up a bit and losen the glue line....Just take your time and you will be fine.bowdoc

Spent some time cleaning today. Acetone may work, but that green paint the guy used takes foever..
Here are some pictures.
Can anyone confirm the year of this as 1967 1/2?

There is a spot where the clear is gone. How should I prep it and what shoudl I use to recoat the bow?
