Bear Alaskan

Found a Bear Alaskan in great shape.Limbs are orange and black,double shelf,with pewter coin in riser.Leather grip. 62",55# number NKO952. Any idea what year and what brace ht to start at.I am going to shoot this baby!

Should be a 1960 w/ aluminum coin. The '59 had copper, the '60 aluminum. The '61 only had a single shelf and not the orange glass (pretty sure on that point).

Brace height, according to the Bear catalog, is between 6-1/2" and 7-1/4"

I really like my 50# 1960 Alaskan. Wish it were 3-5# heavier, but it'll be going after deer with me

Forgot to mention, they didn't make too many that were 55#+, so nice find!

Thanks Jeremy,The coin is indeed aluminum.No stress marks on the limbs and the leather grip is in great shape,as are the decals.
Jack: Got this baby from a guy that raids garage sales.bought several nice bows from him including a'57 Kodiak special and Damon Howatt Diablo.

Inquiring minds want to know: which do you prefer: the '57 KSpecial or the '60 Alaskan? Top of Bear line or the bargain bow? :D

I've actually had the '57 longer and have hunted with it.Only target shot the Alaskan a few times and have not tuned it well enough yet to make a fair comparison,but I do love to shoot the 57 !

Garage and estate sales are an awsome place to find old bows. You can go to 100 and find nothing, and then WHAM!! You hit gold. If I were you, I'd get real tight with that guy.
