This is one of the best threads in a long time.  Who would have thought GRITS could be such a hot topic.  Come on bow season, HURRY UP!!!!!  We're bored!!!!!!

Like I said, I'm learnin ta like them eggs n grits but my all time favorite breakfast is pan fried fish. Either catfish or bluegills...I think they call em Brim in the south.

When I was a kid my Dad, Granddad and I would go out on the lake in my granddad's old steel boat. We'd bring home a big bucket of panfish and Grandma would fry em up for breakfast along with home fried taters. Some of the best meals that I can remember came from my two grandmothers.

What is the matter with you NO CAMS???  Bacon comes from PIGS!!!  Other than that, it sounds good.  We eat lots of grits and all of the other stuff you mentioned here, especially the ol' cathead biscuts.  Most folks don't even know what that is, but them folks probably don't know what "fittin'" and "larypin" mean either...

Well, six pages on a grit topic. who da thunk it?
I thought you talked funny this past weekend Ron. Wish you would had me over for that fish breakfast you talked about tho. here goes my take.
You all should not be so fussy. TURKEY BACON is contrary, The only thing I read in this line up that I can turn down is coconut pie,(again, contrary). I might have had me some of that newspaper wrapped fish that robtattoo spoke of,I ate so much I still taste it on a cool fall morning. surgar don't goin tea but if it did then I drink it. super IS the last meal of the day, except for the snacks that start just after super. okra ain't food so it should be left out of this thread. dang I am hungry. I got go eat me some fried chicken with mashed taters and cobbed corn.

If you want to try something good, cook a pot of real grits (not instant), after they absorb the water, stir in a cup of real cream, a palm full of parmesan cheese, and some hot bacon grease. Serve with some scrambled eggs and some panfried deer backstrap.  It'll stick to your ribs and it's good enough to make you smack your Granny.

Suprised no one has said to sub in fried mush for the grits! I'll take them over grits.

RAU

arent grits just white cornmeal mush? Thinner version of polenta?

Never seen, nor heard of grits be'in served in VT.

This is me as a young lad, fishing for my breakfast. I'm beginning to wonder how grits would go with fish in the morning.

3 eggs scrambled topped with cheese and either Tabasco sauce or Jalepeno peppers with fried taters and either steak, ham, bacon, sausage or Keilbasa. And Rye toast. I'll need to look into those grits with cheese. And  :coffee:

Ron, I've had grits and eggs w/fried catfish for breakfast many a time living in Louisiana so, I'd say they go well together.

Don't eat shrimp or fish down here with out cheese grits whether breakfast or supper. Grits cooked right is easy. Just make sure the water is on a rolling boil before you put the grits in to keep them from being lumpy. Sorta like rice. Have the water boiling first.
