As of late I've been doing a search on Coyote recipes.  There are none.

And yes, I know a lot of you are saying "that's gross!", but seriously, think of how much meat must be on that critter, and if you have a choice between eating Snoopy or your spouse's "onion anchovy casserole surprise", you're eating the dog.

At any rate, anyone with experience in preparing these critters, your advice would be welcome.
Hey Dad, you know how ear wax tastes so bad?

sir_h_c

i have not made it but had a friend who would clean it well, remove all fat and bones, boil it in 2-3 changes of water and use it in a stew with lots of spices.
I had an uncle that would brine it twice and grind it up for chili.  I've never heard of anyone doing a yote roast or anything though.
Also, I imagine you could use some of the same recipes you would use for bear.  Both eat meat and carrion.  Coyotes are more carniverous but it's worth a shot!
straighten up and fly right...Dangit!

coyotes eat meat all the time its 100% of thier diet.

Bears eat almost exclusivly veggies and berries for a few weeks after getting out of hibernation. Then they move to eat other things.

I imagine that yote hamburger wouldent be bad. But seriously I would not eat them. I have seen way to many yotes with rabies and and other gross things.

Just like eating your dog, just marinate with winchester sauce and lemonjuice, and throw them on the grill!

Just kidding.  But that doesn't make my mouth water.

I work with a guy that ate some on a $25 bet...he said the flavor wasn't bad but the meat was real stringy..I wouldn't eat it though.

For $25 I'd eat a french fried poodle.   :readit:

Learn how to type Korean and do a search under dog for dinner! I would imagine that if you ad enough ginger, soy sauce and saki it would taste ok. I my case you need alot of saki - alot!

I'd just did a search (that's how I found out about this website) and had the best luck searching for dog meat recipes.  Much of the world eats dog......why not??

I don' know, I shot a Mountain lion this year and the meat was some of the best game I've ever eaten! A little squeemish at first but not for very long.

This is an old recipe.   Take the Yote Loin and place it on a maple board that has been covered in seasoned salt and black pepper. Throw it on the grill about 2 hours on low heat.  when its done take the meat off the maple board and throw the meat away and eat the maple board.

I have skined many different animals and a Yote is by far the nastiest smelling animal.   I would not eat it.  unless I was starving.

I don't know how dog compares to coyote, but I ate dog when I went through SERE School in the Army. Made a mighty fine meal... This of course was after we had been imprisoned, beaten, and starved.

I'm with 702.  I've trapped and skinned a lot of critters and coyotes were the nastiest smelling.  I think the only thing that could smell worse would be a gut-shot coyote.  It takes a lot to turn my stomach and coyotes come very close.

I've eaten a lot of game but draw the line on that and possums.  If you do eat it you are a better man than I.  You B-B-Q some on my grill I think I'd just about throw away the grill.

an old timer I know eats it occasionally...i know the meat is stringy and tough due to the muscle content.  No worse than eating opossum..

I've skinned plenty and agree not much smells worse than a wet green belly coyote.

Coyotes do not eat meat 100% of time...they will eat anything they "think" is food from nuts, berries, melons, grass and trash.

I've served up coyote hams to buddies in hunting camp before.  Everybody that tried it has loved it.

The secret to success is starting the whole recipe with the well-marinated ham off a 40 pound southern whitetail...and putting yer tongue in yer cheek while ya BBQ it for yer northern friends.

The biggest problem I would have with eating them is the nasty crap they eat. They dine on a whole lot of rotting carcasses.Cant't help but abstain when I've seen what coyotes eat.
Now,bobcats on the other hand....and beaver and muskrats.Mmmm goood....

Anyone that eats a catfish shouldn't have any problem with what an animal eats.

I'm still not eating a coyote though.

That being said,if catfish smelled like coyotes when skinning I wouldn't eat them either.

I'll eat just about anything, but I draw the line at possums, coyote and groundhogs...
