Bow arm rotation and shoulder pain

Hey guys a while back I posted about a string slap problem I had been having. Well I messed around and seem to have cured it but, I am not sure I am doing it right. I am rotating my elbow out until it is nearly 90 degree with the bow and pointing at the wall. After a few shoots this starts to cause some pain and soreness in my bow arm shoulder (left). My arm is fully extended but not hyper extended. I just want to make sure this is normal. I don't want to injure my self. If it isn't could you guys give me some alternatives.

Jake,  A common error in getting that elbow turned is to do it by rolling the  shoulder forward to cause the elbow to rotate.

Try this:  stand near a corner of a wall and place your bow hand on the corner (like holding the bow).  Now practice turning the elbow WITHOUT ANY shoulder movement.  You CAN learn this, it just takes a little practice -- keep your shoulder down and back and just turn your arm. Once you learn this movement, you will be able to do it with the hand unsupported by the wall. It sounds like the discomfort you are experiencing is a result of getting the shoulder out of position.

     Thanks again for the advice. I realized that it was actually my grip which has been causing it. I looked over a few of your videos and realized I was not gripping the bow properly causing my forearm auto naturally get in the way of the string path. A few dozen shots with my knuckles at a 45 degree angle and extended arm left me elbow rotated outward and my forearm clear. Thank you again!
