Has anyone experimented with this method of drawing and releasing using your thumb?  I believe Ishi sometimes used this method.

Give Joel Turner a call. He has been shooting that way for a couple of months now and really likes it.

Greyarcher on youtube does a review on it and made his own thumb ring. Also posts on how to make them out of PVC.
I am going to TRY it and see if it cleans up my release and is adaptable to my old ways.

This is me practicing with a thumbring. Been shooting this style for about 7 years now.

According to Saxon Pope his friend Ishi only used the Mongolian release and anchored at his collar bone. Lol new archer so have been reading a good deal   :)   .

I do it too, anchor at my ear.

I use a leather thumbring, I didn't like the feel of the horn and metal types.

I'm interested in trying this style or the leather tab release thingy.

It is, in fact, a much more efficient style of release than the classic three-finger release. Besides, the thumb is - naturally - the strongest of your fingers. With practice, heavier poundages can be drawn with more ease than the mediterranean style of draw. The slight pressure applied by your index finger, also helps to keep the arrow in check.
The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts.
