Acronym for shooting - for me anyway

Consistency is the name of the game in shooting accurately; we all agree on that. I'll take luck any day but rather to reply on skill and consistent accuracy. I don't want to rely on luck when shooting at game.

I needed and continue to need to work on everything falling into place for a good shot.

I came up with an acronym to help me...

GEAR

Grip on the bow. Just enough and no death grip.

Even pressure on both of my draw fingers - two under shooter...without even pressure I get poor releases.

Also for Eye on the target

Anchor - every time the same place

Release - no plucking please

In my line of work acronyms are a part of training to help keep it fresh if possible.

Maybe someone else has one they can share or expand on this one.

Shoot straight guys and gals.

Sounds like you are getting serious about our hunt.  I find myself shooting the "Gnat Assassin" every night now, and that acronym of yours goes right along with mine...K.I.S.S

I shot last night for a few minutes after a hot day's work. I have a life size deer flat cardboard cutout in front of my straw bales. If I get a 20 yard shot or under at a hog at Rays I stand a good chance of getting some ham.  :)

My new Lost Creek will be here soon.

My Zona has yet to be born.

I'd say your chances of a shot at 20 yards or less at Ray's are pretty darn good!

I like that-it's helpful. Thanks.
I can say it has helped me out to 20yds. I practiced last night at 35. I didn't miss the 18" x 20" manufacured target with a broadhead. But unless I were shooting at moose or bison I wouldn't shoot at anything deer in size at that range. My margin or error at that range is 12" +/- in any given direction. (gotta work on a smoother release)

For yardwork and practice the 4 letter ackronyms work fine but for the moment of truth during a hunt I try to keep my shooting thoughts to a maximum of one. Same with golf.

But if you practice enough it becomes second nature and the thought process is automatic.

Mental preparedness pays off in many things.
