Today I tried my first full Field round at Prince William Archers & didn't do real well but OK I guess.

My total score was: 208  :(

Since I have practically no string time at the 65+ yard distances I opted out by claiming a miss instead of shooting those distances yet.
The 35 & shorter distance targets I shot pretty decently using instinctive "or split vision" but the 40 - 60 yard shots I used a point of aim technique that I've been working on but have yet to master.
Well those 40 - 60 yards shots all seemed to hit left each time I'd loose an arrow & for the life of me I could not figure out what I was doing wrong, the two shooters I was with didn't really see anything with my form that would say something & even one of em said that it's was wierd that my shots were dead on 35 & below but hit left at the longer shots "mentioned that it could be a slight spine issue."

After the scores were put in I decided to shoot a few more arrows just for the sake of it before we left the range but this time at the 40 yard practice butt I decided to change something.
Instead of closing my left eye to focus on the point & the target like I have been when using Point of Aim I shot with both eyes open.

@#$%&* I hit all the arrows in the 4 ring fairly encircling the 5 spot!
I thought this must be a fluke & tried it at the 50 yard & @#$%&* I did it again all of my arrows were hitting center with 1 X!
I said let's try it with my left eye closed.

Both eyes open & all the arrows would hit center or near center.

Man am I a huge dunce, if I was smart enough to keep both eyes open I could have had a better score.
Lesson learned, I can't shoot worth spit when I close my left eye.

Well you worked something out that should help heaps, good for you.

Field shooting is a real good way to improve your shooting huh ;^)
Winning or losing is not the important thing,,the important thing is how well you played the game.
