HELP ME SHOOT A GROUP

I recently switched from a Hoyt compound to a 52# long bow I started on a big bag target and have gained enough accuracy to start shooting @ 3D deer but can't group. HELP!

If you want to shoot a tight group, buy Masters of the Barebow III, and pay particular attention to what Rod Jenkins has to say.  If you want to shoot a tighter group, go to one of his classes.

I dont know if you shoot insticntive or not but when i want to shoot groups i just focus on the first arrow and shoot. but i usually just try to shoot only one arrow and try and make it perfect just as if if were hunting.

Work on your form basics and get a simple 1-pin sight, attach it temporarily with carpet tape. The sight helps you "learn" where the arrow is, in your peripheral vision. A solid consistent two-point anchor and draw length helps too - I'd try a clicker after getting the basics down.

When your learning a new type Bow\\style 52# is a lot, I suspect you might be overbowed. maybe a little more info on Bow\\arrow setup and whats happening when your shooting.

1; Do groups get worse the further back you go?

2; The more arrows you shoot?

3; Hows your form, are you snap shooting or holding at anchor for a few seconds?

4; Is the arrow spread just random or in one area i.e low/left?

Zeta, I should have asked about how to shoot to the right instead of how to group. For instance a 3D deer target @ 10 yards I'm on target @ 15 in the shoulder and @ 20 in the neck. I focus on the liver area of the vitals but still shoot consistently to the left. Could it be that I am torqing the bow.

You could also be plucking, raising your head  ( peeking ) to see your shot, or pushing the arm to the right due to an out of line arm, shoulder, bow.  Get masters of the barebow three like was mentioned above.

There might be an easy fix to your shooting left. What kind of material is your sideplate made of ???

If it is leather, or something that is a hard material.......you could try softening the sideplate. Use something like female velcro, or something real plush and soft that has some thickness to it.
