I wonder how much of the 800+ reports, may be the result of the servant telling the Sultan...I agree that arrow went 800 yds and that made it official? No sense in disagreeing with someone who can have your head chopped off!

dont think you could shoot a coumpound or any other bow to 880 meters I tryed trad bows with carbon arrows and accs got 200to 225yards @55lbs with a 70lb coumpound got to 300 to 325 max so flight shooting is a cool sport and will try again with small fletch and stiff arrows and se if I can improve OL do frenchmen not jump the string as bad as whitetails they are probably talking too much to jump string

and the english archers that used 150lb bows were required to practice for several hours a day.
the french went with crossbows more...
speaking of which, the crossbow was outlawed in 1146 by European leaders.... but no one listened!
