What effect does a tight shooting hand (hand holding the string) have on your arrow flight? I'm consistently shooting left and I am picking myself apart trying to figure it out. Primarily working on back tension and Terry's alignment methods but I am not having much luck. This is my worst slump yet, but I know I will get through it thanks to the good peeps here! I take a deep hook (first crease and split fingers). I also seem to notice differences in just minor pressure changes between the fingers...sombody help me out, I'm going bonkers...

thanks

sounds like you are plucking the string on release.meaning your follow thru is not straight back but to the right away from your face causing your arrow to go left. assuming you are right handed

Shooting left?  Could be the bow arm

Jarvis,

Any way you can video your shot from various angles?

Jarvis,
I am still (probably always will be) a newbie to trad archery. However I have been dealing with the exact same for a while. I discovered that I wasn't getting my shoulders aligned with the target and arrow very well. What worked for me was to really try to pinch my shoulder-blades together when I draw, which also kinda feels like you're sticking your chest out. For me it really started making my arrows fly exactly where I was looking as far as left and right goes. Plus, this helps me use my back muscles (Lats) more. I also think my arrows are too short, feels like I'm crowded and can't get back far enough.

If you have any way I'd do what Mr. Green suggested and film yourself, these guys are great about helping and advice.

Hope you have a great day, HH
