Drill for plunger ---yea,,,ney

Just got a bear Kodiak Hunter. It has been drilled by me for srf sight. Centershot is listed as 0 for the older Kodiak. Would it be worth futher drilling for installation of a plunger>>>> I have 3 or 4 lying around.

It's your bow, do what you want with it. If it's already got holes drilling it then the resale value has already dropped, might as well add another hole and give it a try.

If it's cut to center, not past center, what's a cushion plunger going to do for you?

sorta what I thought too-----I figured flipper rest 2 and nothing else

Yes, if not cut past center the plunger is not a great addition.

When I was 16 I bought a Bear Super Grizzly. I took it home and camo painted it. I drilled it for a Kwikee Kwiver bracket and a Berger button plunger. I put a Flipper II on it. I had broadhead pointed 2117s shooting wonderfully out of that 50lb bow.

Fast forward to 2010. The bow had been sitting for years. I discovered tradgang.com and saw that everyone (almost) frowned on elevated rests. I filled the hole for the Berger button and put a rug and sideplate on it. It took forever to get arrows tuned to the bow but I finally got it tuned.

It shoots great now, but not as well as when it had the well adjusted Berger button and the Flipper. The plunger stuck out maybe 3/64" beyond the Flipper plate.

It is your bow. Do with it what you want to do.

Target archers almost always have a plunger of some form or another. If that's your thing, go for it. For hunting and just because I like simplicity, I wouldn't bother. But that's me.

It won't work unless it's cut past center by a fair amount. Legions of hunters use them but they are shooting metal ILF risers cut past center (I know because I was roundly chastised last year by them when I said hunters don't use them.)

They have their drawbacks. I had one on a bow many years ago, shot at a nice buck, and had the arrow fly way wide.

Why!

It was cold out and moisture froze up the spring causing the plunger to fail.

Many of us did what Bud B did in those days. Don't know if I would do it these days? Raised rest yes, drilling holes? To many reasonably priced metal risers out there that come with all the holes one needs.
