I seem to like them both although 3D adds a bit of pressure where stump shootin' is more relaxed... What are your thoughts?

Either, with the right companions.

I enjoyed both but 3D was my favorite, going to different places and different courses.

no 3d ranges in my area so stump shooting is all we do. I enjoy stump shooting. My shooting buddy and I are pretty competitive with each  other so we can try some tricky shots.

Bunch of guys stumping is more fun than a bunch of guys shooting 3-D in my opinion

But only because 3D usually means another group is waiting to come along behind you, rushing you along.  And also it is usually on mowed lanes with shooting stakes so you don't get the under branch, odd angle or 120 yard shots that come along with stumping.

I like stumping, seems people get way more competitive when there's some way to score. Not saying scoring is a bad thing, but competition is what burned me out of the compound and the more relaxed pick a stump and shoot is where i find my peace now days even with other people.

To paraphrase Terry Green in the Trad Gang video, if you don't live somewhere where you can stump and shoot 3D both, MOVE.  I couldn't decide; I enjoy both of them.

Both are fun but stumping gets my vote for most fun and best practice. Easy to scout while you are out having fun.
In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

stumping for sure. don't care for 3d's but I have access to thousands of BLM acreage 15 minutes from my door. I am blessed.

For me stumping is a lot more relaxing and fun.  I can make it as difficult or easy as I want to.

Both are fun. I have to say that 3D edges out stumping just a bit if I get to pick where I shoot from. No wide open shots and stuff like that.

This week I went stump shooting in the same woods that I hunt deer and elk. Can't get better than that.

Stumping is pretty much a solitary thing here but our 3-D groups can have up to a dozen buds shooting, laughing, and goofing off. We refuse to keep score so everyone's a winner!

I love both but for pure fun, nothing beats shooting 3D with Red Beastmaster and the rest of the crew. (Although I used to secretly keep score and would always beat him    :p   )

Miss you all Dave!

Hackbow,

We still shoot at Strictly Sticks 3-D each month through the winter. We miss you but we don't miss looking for your arrows.
