Are the cheaper $400 limbs static, or is that just the more expensive set? Any reviews of the $400 limbs? I'm thinking of getting a set of longs for my Black Onyx riser.

wingnut

They are both static RC.

The Epic RC are 10 - 12 fps slower then the ACS RC.

Whoa...lol, looks like you might get $200 more out of me!

jkm97

I've actually never shot a static limb...what are the advantages over a working limb?

wingnut

Static limbs in a "super curve" typically are quieter, faster and deliver the "let off" effect at the back of the draw.  This is a drop in loading from about 4# per inch to about 2# per inch for the last couple of inches.

Does the same hold true for the longbow limbs?

wingnut

Jake,

Longbow limbs do not have the mechanical advantage of a static recurve so they have a more linear force draw.

I recently bought a set of 40lb acs Rc epics  here on trad gang. On my Morrison 15 in riser they are 43 lbs. I draw 28 and with a 530 grain arrow I am getting 163 fps. Which from my experience with many bows over the chrony, is very impressive. I had to use a 400 spine arrow to get a stiff enough spine.
So I also just received to day a dryad 15 riser with the same limbs in 45 lb. started with a 400 spine arrow but it looks like I may need to go to a 340 spine as its still week n I am almost out of arrow shaft .
Freind, what spine arrows for a corresponding weight limb do you end up with ?
Stalker Coyote 56, 49@28
Acadian woods carbon recurve 58 46@28
Black widow pch 58, 40@28
Browning Nomad Stalker 45# 28
Morrison 58, 47@28
Black Widow PCH 58 in 40#@28

monterey

Well, 10 to 12 fps slower than the ACS limbs is still a very fast bow.
