Climbed into my tree stand this morning, it was dead still and frosty cold! Around 7 am I heard what sounded like a buck making a scrape, I then saw a glimpse of a deer through the brush, despite all my grunts and rattles I could not coax the buck out! After about 40 minutes had passed I saw a nice buck emerging from the thicket, looming to cross behind me, I knew I needed him to come up the trail beside me in order to get a good shot so I grunted to him, he turned my way and headed up the trail at 20 yards, as he passed I released a woodsman tipped arrow into the buck quartered away. The arrow struck the deer mid height and 2/3 back, it exited around 5 inches behind the opposite shoulder. This after giving the buck ample time (5 hours) we recovered the buck on the creek bank, his liver was center punched. Tagged out the day before opening firearm season...that's how I ended my 2nd season with the longbow!

Great buck and very nice settings for the pics-well done.
The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.
