A question about spending the whole day on a treestand

Well, I haven't done it yet, but I might. My question is very simple: what do you do when you have to pee? Do you carry an empty bottle with you? Or do you just water the tree from the treestand? Would the smell drive the deer away?

Thanks,
Max

This may start trouble but I have started mock scrapes by being  the first stag to pee in it.  i pee off the stand had deer walk right through  it and nose around for awhile , some pay no attention.  Killed a buck in Canada after peeing off the same stand for three days..

I do the same thing, I pee off the stand and in scrapes. Have killed bucks eating acorns where I just peed and had them freshen scrapes after watering them also.

LOL. Are you going for distance or accuracy?  :

I'll usually just let it fly. But if I am hunting near a scrape I will usually get down to stretch my legs and freshen the scrape.
Heck, I've even managed to freshen two or three near by scrapes in one go. If anyone ever saw me they would probably laugh their rear off. Especially when I'm trying to get some on the licking branch.   I bet the bucks are wandering how another buck could pull that off?   :biglaugh:

A great friend of mine used to take a thermos of coffee and a sandwich into his treestand.  When the coffee was done he had a urinal available.

One day he left it on the counter and his wife dumped it into the dishwater.

It was never allowed in the house after that.

Seriously - I got the story early one morning when we were heading out before dawn and I asked him why he took the coffee pot onto the back porch to fill his thermos.

Personally, I climb down, walk off a distance (still-hunting a couple hundred yards), pee, stump-shoot, have lunch, then go back to the stand.

Thank you, everybody    :biglaugh:

That was all interesting information. It might save me some extra weight to bring around... and avoid some confusion with the Gatorade I normally take along...

I use to pee off the stand.  No worry about spooking deer. . .  HOWEVER the problem I have is smaller bucks and does come and smell it, often resulting in them either busting me or minimally getting nervous as they smell my entrance to the tree. I would rather NO deer even be curious of my presence.

Solution:  A heavy duty rubber hot water bottle from W***mart for under $10.

I often pee off the stand. If they smell the pee, aren't they already smelling me? I have had deer come along afterward that were not noticeably affected. The only real problem comes when the deer comes along during the act. A real bummer.

I used to haul in a pee bottle, but after having forgot it one day and being forced to pee from the stand, I don't bother. Like as has been stated, pee is pee. I don't even think twice about anymore, besides making a thorough look around to make sure I don't get busted while in the evacuation process...

The only time peeing out of the stand can get you in trouble is if you are set up with the wind in your face and you have 20 mph winds.  Otherwise it is not a problem.

I could have so much fun with this one but I won't lol ...yes Gatorade bottles are perfect and they are quiet as plastic bottles go

I always have let it rip!  I have seen no adverse reactions either. Ask Barry Wensel what he does? He's killed more big bucks than probably anyone on here.

Check the wind and pee off the stand!  Don't forget to check the wind........

Mint

Pee off the stand.

I can do all day sits in a blind but can't do it from a stand. However I can sit to around 11:00am and then walk to a new stand and hunt from 11:45am to dark. Just getting down for about 45 minutes makes the difference for me so that's what I do during the rut.
